Manly West State School has a dedicated computer lab that complements the school’s growing fleet of student devices. Students have access to the latest Adobe Express tools, allowing them to develop skills in graphic design, animation and digital publication. The lab is also used for a range of online programs, from learning the basics of coding through to more advanced robotics programming and coding with Arduino electronics.
The school also has a well-resourced makerspace stocked with a wide range of building materials, glues and glue guns, as well as robotics equipment including mBots, Edison robots and Ozobots. The makerspace is further equipped with LittleBits electronic kits and Arduino boards, along with a variety of sensors, giving students hands-on opportunities to design, build and experiment.
Manly West State School has a large fleet of iPads, supported by a BYOD iPad program. iPads provide powerful tools for photography, movie-making, storytelling and documenting student learning.
3D printing is an emerging technology that is transforming many industries, from construction to medical science and even space exploration. Our school has a range of 3D printers for student learning, with the aim of fostering skills in problem solving, agility and experimentation. Students learn to design in a 3D environment using Tinkercad and other 3D design programs, bringing their ideas to life in physical form.
